Gin-JuJube Tea

Did you know? 1 in 4 women suffer from intense period cramps, and up to 30% of adults struggle with cold hands and feet due to sluggish circulation.

Sound familiar? Let’s warm you up with this recipe. Drink it all day (double check with your physician if you have diabetes/blood-sugar concerns) if you want—it’s been a weekly staple in my wellness routine, and has shooed away the pains and lethargy I usually feel when it’s that time of the month. If you don’t have a uterus or ovaries, don’t worry, you’ll enjoy this too, especially when you’re feeling cold!

Why? In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), ginger and red dates (jujubes…hence) are renowned for their warming and tonifying effects. But in the Western Medicine front, these ingrediants are well known for its beneficial biochemical properties as well—win-win!

  • Ginger:

    • TCM: dispels cold, relieves bloating, supports digestion and regulation in the menstrual system

    • Western Medicine: Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, aids nausea and digestion.

  • Red Dates

    • TCM: Replenishes energy, recuperates blood supply, supports spleen and stomach, improve sleep

    • Western Medicine: Antioxidant, rich in iron, vitamin C, improve sleep

  • (optiona) Goji Berries:

    • TCM: recovers liver and kidney, hormonal balance, supports healthy skin & eyes

    • Western Medicine: Regulates blood sugar, antioxidants (zeaxanthin), mood improver
